FORT MILL, SC, January 03, 2013 (Press-News.org) VELUX America is introducing a new blind collection with 85 colors and pattern choices, offering homeowners the opportunity to design their spaces to reflect their personalities and turn ordinary spaces into something special. The products are being shown for the first time at the International Builders' Show in Orlando, Florida in February 2012.
The new blind collection features a designer series by Karim Rashid, a leading international figure in the field of modern design. His perspective and clients are global and his projects range from products, interior design and fashion, to furniture, lighting design and art.
"Daylight is essential for our well-being and ability to think positively, and VELUX makes exceptional quality skylights, flooding spaces with daylight," Rashid says. "However, to create an intimate and recreational space, light control is an absolute must - for sleeping, working or privacy."
VELUX blinds are available in many styles and types. Blackout blinds block 98 percent of outside light, making them perfect for bedrooms, and they also provide optimal thermal protection. Light filtering blinds are translucent and admit a soft, natural, diffused light to reduce glare. Both these types are available in solar powered or manual models. Manual Venetian blinds are also available to adjust light.
The addition of blinds to skylights can increase the overall energy efficiency of the units by 37 percent by reducing potential solar gain in summer and by providing an extra layer of thermal insulation in winter.
The company now pre-installs blinds at the factory for all electric skylights and offers factory installation for other models. Consumers can simply pick the type of blinds, colors, and patterns that best fit their needs and decor when they order.
Timothy B. Miller, president of VELUX America, says that "with the use of the VELUX system of skylights, flashings, and an expanded selection of blinds colors and patterns, consumers can now maximize the drama of daylighting their homes while utilizing a new design and decorating element, all the while benefiting from our No Leak Skylight product warranty."
