LA JOLLA, CA, January 06, 2013 (Press-News.org) Dr. Richard Chaffoo now offers Sientra's Silimed high-strength cohesive gel implants at his Murrieta and La Jolla plastic surgery offices.
"We are excited to offer this quality line of silicone implants," Dr. Chaffoo says. "The sheer variety of Silimed implants will provide my patients with a greatly expanded selection."
Dr. Chaffoo will continue to offer other brands of silicone and saline implants along with the Silimed line.
The brand, which includes a variety of implant sizes and shapes manufactured by a subsidiary of the California company Sientra, received FDA approval in March 2012 for use in the United States. The brand has been available in other countries for a number of years. FDA approval was contingent upon a multi-year clinical study that looked at safety data from nearly 1,800 participants. In addition, follow-up studies have indicated that Silimed implants carry a low risk of complications.
Dr. Chaffoo has extensive training and experience in performing quality breast augmentation in San Diego. He says the addition of Silimed implants to his practice increases the variety of implant sizes and shapes he can offer. Silimed implants are approved for breast augmentation patients age 22 and older and for breast reconstruction patients of any age.
Silimed implants are classified by 3 criteria: profile (the shape as viewed from the side), proportion (the ratio of the implant's base to the patient's chest wall size and breast width) and projection (the distance the implant protrudes from the chest wall). Doctors and their patients can also choose between smooth and textured Silimed implants.
"The options are simply staggering," Dr. Chaffoo says. "For example, in the past, breast augmentation patients had only one choice of shape: round. Silimed's shaped silicone implant was the first of its kind to receive FDA approval. Depending on a patient's body type and goals, I can now offer round or shaped silicone implants.
"Options have also opened up in the realm of implant proportion. Patients now have 3 proportion choices, where they previously had only one. Every patient has a unique body and unique needs, so expanded choice is always welcome in cosmetic surgery."
Dr. Chaffoo is one of the few plastic surgeons in the U.S. who is certified by 3 national medical boards: The American Board of Plastic Surgery, American Board of Otolaryngology, and American Board of Facial and Plastic Reconstructive Surgery. He provides a wide range of procedures for his plastic surgery patients in San Diego, including breast augmentation, liposuction, rhinoplasty, facelift and abdominoplasty.
Dr. Richard Chaffoo is a board-certified San Diego plastic surgeon whose breast augmentation, facial rejuvenation and body contouring patients enjoy quality results. Dr. Chaffoo is certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery, American Board of Otolaryngology and American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He received specialized training through 3 postgraduate fellowships, including a facial plastic surgery fellowship and a head and neck oncologic surgery fellowship at Stanford University. He has offices in La Jolla and Murrieta, Calif., and is the consultant plastic surgeon for La Costa Resort and Spa. He has lectured extensively and has had articles published in several peer-review professional journals. In his practice, he works closely with Dr. Susan Stuart, a respected dermatologist who offers a wide range of skin care treatments.

While marijuana for medicinal use has steadily gained favor in many states, legalizing pot for ...
