Paper Shredding Company Wins Best New Business in Barrie Award

Shred North has been named Best New Business of the Year 2012 by the Greater Barrie Chamber of Commerce.

BARRIE, ONN, January 09, 2013 (Press-News.org) Shred North, local paper shredding company, has been named Best New Business in Barrie by the Greater Barrie Chamber of Commerce at the annual Barrie Business Awards Gala.

The event, in its tenth year, recognizes business excellence in the Barrie area by the Chamber of Commerce in partnership with OLG and Powerstream Inc.

Shred North began operations in early 2012 offering paper shredding, hard drive destruction and document storage services to the community.

"We're very honoured to be recognized by our peers", states Ryan Giffen, CEO of Shred North. "We're proud not only to work in Barrie but to live here as well. Providing businesses and residents with a local alternative for their document destruction needs is what we are all about".

"Congratulations to this innovative new Barrie company", states Barrie Mayor Jeff Lehman. "Document safety and security is a growing concern and I believe Shred North's unique services will allow them to be leaders in this rapidly expanding industry".

The shredding company is the first in Barrie to be granted membership into the National Association of Information Destruction (NAID) which is the regulatory body for the shredding industry.

Shred North has been very active in the community through local sports team sponsorships, charity golf tournaments, the "Shred for the Cure" team and by holding a 'Charity Shred Day' for Gilda's Club Simcoe Muskoka.

"The Charity Shred Day was an incredible event", states Giffen. "Not only did it allow us to connect with the community in regards to raising funds for an amazing place like Gilda's Club, we also raised a lot of awareness about the need to protect against identity theft through document shredding".

Politicians such as MP Patrick Brown, MPP Rod Jackson and Lehman have all visited Shred North recently with Mayor Lehman going so far as to proclaim October 13th 2012 as "Charity Shred Day" in the city of Barrie.
