First Lousebuster De-lousing Treatment Center Opens in Central Virginia

Virginia Lice Removal, LLC is a new entry in the de-lousing service in the Central Virginia area. What set's this service apart from all others is that VLR uses an FDA-approved device called the Lousebuster which is more effective in killing lice.

2013-01-16
MIDLOTHIAN, VA, January 16, 2013 (Press-News.org) Lorena and Gerry Wolburg, residents of Midlothian, Virginia have opened the first de-lousing treatment center that uses the Lousebuster, an FDA-Cleared device that eliminates head lice and their nits in one half-hour treatment. Virginia Lice Removal is the first de-lousing service to use this device in Central Virginia and has been in operation since September, 2012.

The Lousebuster device was developed by Dr. Dale Clayton, a professor in the Biology Department of the University of Utah. Clinical trials based on a robust experimental design, show that the application of a sufficient volume of controlled, heated air at a specific temperature is extremely effective at killing lice, including virtually ALL of their eggs, during a single 30-minute treatment. The treatment works by dehydrating lice and their eggs. The Lousebuster head lice treatment is a practical, ecological approach to killing lice, unlike chemical treatments, to which many strains of lice have evolved genetic resistance.

Gerry had heard of this ground-breaking device while listening to WCVE, the local National Public Radio affiliate. A few months later, the Wolburg's daughter became infested with head lice and they became aware that the Lousebuster treatment was not yet available in Central Virginia. They soon recognized that there was an opportunity to be the first in the region's de-lousing industry.

Over the summer the Wolburgs decided to start Virginia Lice Removal, and became trained and certified to use the Lousebuster. They opened their business as a mobile service on September 1st, 2012 and were soon de-lousing customers.

Over the fall, they decided to open the first local treatment center to allow more accessibility for their customers. By doing this, they are helping their customers save in transportation costs and are better able to de-louse more patients since the time spent travelling outside of the treatment center is drastically reduced. Additionally, customers that prefer privacy and do not want acquaintances noticing a service call from Virginia Lice Removal are able to be de-loused in a discrete, comfortable environment.

Central Virginia's first Lousebuster -serviced treatment center may be found at: Virginia Lice Removal, 1401 Huguenot Road, Suite 202, Midlothian Virginia, 23113, located across from Chesterfield Towne Centre and next to Best Buy. Hours are by appointment only.
