Community Service Initiative Exceeds Redfish Technology's Expectations

Launched Q4 of 2012, Redfish's 'One for One' Community Service Initiative exceeded expectations. Redfish staff have volunteered over 160 hours to organizations like: BCRD Soccer, Girls on the Run, Higher Ground, Papoose Club, and SV Youth Hockey.

2013-01-18
MILPITAS, CA, January 18, 2013 (Press-News.org) Redfish Technology, provider of nationwide executive high tech and clean tech recruiting services, announced the results of the first quarter of the 'One for One' program. Inaugurated three months ago, this Community Service initiative has already tallied up a total of 160.5 hours benefitting eight different organizations.

A socially responsible company, Redfish values investing in its communities. The 'One for One' Community Service program was inspired by the recruiters who wanted to formalize their commitment and involvement with the local communities.

The Redfish staff have rallied during the inaugural quarter, surpassing expectations. Volunteer efforts ranged from training with the Special Olympics athletes to coaching, mentoring, and fund raising for several youth programs.

Four Redfish recruiters teamed up with members of the new fall Special Olympics team through Higher Ground Sun Valley (formerly Sun Valley Adaptive Sports). The athletes and volunteers paired up and practiced in the evenings weekly in preparation for the Regional Games in Boise. "Spending time with these amazing athletes was very fulfilling personally," stated Joanna Edwards, IT Sales & Marketing Recruitment Manager at Redfish. "The mix of perseverance and plain old fun was infectious." Leah O'Flynn, Logan Knight, and Greg Schreiner also participated. A slide show can be viewed online at: http://youtu.be/hETKStEmEaA

Beth Cliff, IT Engineering Recruitment Manager at Redfish, is a junior troupe leader with the Rhode Island Girl Scouts. She loves the opportunity to mentor girls and teaching them leadership and life skills. "Our Girl Scout troop learned about sales, marketing, and finances while selling magazine subscriptions, candy and nuts in November," Beth reported. "They earned money for our troop that we used to take the girls rock climbing."

The Girls on the Run program combines training for a 3.1 mile running event with self-esteem enhancing exercises. Toward the end of the season, the girls design and carry out a community service project. The girls chose to honor veterans by expressing their gratitude to them for their service in a video. http://youtu.be/QqY6LOE9GKk

The 160.5 hours accumulated by the hard work of many: John Stevens coached and toured with the Sun Valley Youth Hockey team. Anna Mathieu coached a group of Girls on the Run, as well as helped raise money for local youth with The Papoose Club. Rob Reeves and Jon Piggins each dedicated their time as soccer coaches; Rob with the Blaine County Recreation District, and Jon with Sawtooth United Football Club. Beth also donated time to the Rhode Island Vegan Awareness organization.
