Patti Smith to Present Solo Exhibition at the Art Gallery of Ontario in February 2013 with Guide by Cell's Cell Phone Audio Tour

The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) in Toronto is partnering with Guide by Cell to offer a cell phone audio tour for the upcoming "Patti Smith: Camera Solo," a glimpse into the world of legendary musician and artist Patti Smith.

2013-01-18
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, January 18, 2013 (Press-News.org) The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) in Toronto is partnering with Guide by Cell to offer a cell phone audio tour for the upcoming "Patti Smith: Camera Solo," a glimpse into the world of legendary musician and artist Patti Smith through an intimate exhibition featuring more than 75 works of photography, objects and film, on view from February 9 to May 19, 2013.

The first presentation of Smith's visual art in Canada, "Patti Smith: Camera Solo" will highlight the continual connections between Smith's photography and her interest in poetry and literature. Best known for her profound influence on the nascent punk rock scene in the late 1970s and 80s, the exhibition will provide a rare opportunity to experience a different side of this icon through her inspired expression in the visual arts. With Guide by Cell's cell phone audio tour, visitors get the chance to listen to further details about the exhibition and experience Smith's documented sights and spaces that reflect her personal experiences.

"We're thrilled to be able to offer visitors the chance to hear the venerable Patti Smith's own perspectives on her photographs with this cell phone audio tour from the Wadsworth Atheneum and Guide by Cell," said Shiralee Hudson Hill, AGO's interpretive planner for the exhibition. "The intimacy of using your own device to hear the artist's voice in your ear befits the intimate, personal qualities of the works themselves."

To access to the cell phone audio tour during the exhibition during the exhibit time beginning February 9 and hear stories behind the pieces, some narrated by Patti Smith, visitors will be able to dial (877) 274-7934 and follow the prompts. The tour is free and does not require equipment rental. For more information about Cell Phone Audio Tours, please click here.

Guide by Cell also offers additional mobile technology solutions such as its new "Mobile Docent" service that combines QR codes, mobile websites and text messaging in one integrated package. For more information, please visit http://www.guidebycell.com.
