Royal Oaks Homes To Serve As Sole Builder Of Hero Home For Operation: Coming Home V

North Carolina Homebuilder Continues Its Commitment To Nonprofit Project That Donates Custom-Built Home To Disabled Combat Veteran And Family

2013-01-24
RALEIGH, NC, January 24, 2013 (Press-News.org) Royal Oaks Homes, LLC (http://www.royaloakshomes.com), an award-winning residential new homebuilder, has announced its renewed commitment to Operation: Coming Home, a nonprofit organization providing custom-built homes to disabled combat veterans, by serving as the sole builder of the program's upcoming fifth Hero Home. The company will build this uniquely designed home alongside a team of professionals including the Triangle Veterans Association, Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County (HBA) and other local project supporters. The home will be exclusively designed and tailored to meet the needs of PFC Cody Stanton, who had both legs severely damaged and suffered other injuries on Jan. 26, 2012 while his unit was training police in Afghanistan. Stanton lost both legs, one above the knee and the other below, when he stepped on an improvised explosive device (IED) after his unit drew fire. He deployed with the 21st Military Police Co. (Airborne) from Fort Bragg's XVIII Airborne Corps in November 2011.

Leaders of Operation: Coming Home announced the selection of Stanton on Jan. 20 during halftime of the NC State men's basketball game as part of the university's Military Appreciation Day activities in a ceremony attended by Royal Oaks Homes and other Operation: Coming Home participants. The fifth Hero Home will be located in Forest Springs, a community in Holly Springs, N.C., with the groundbreaking ceremony taking place on Thursday, Feb. 14.

Operation: Coming Home builds and donates homes for disabled combat veterans who have served in the Middle East, after a selection committee interviews candidates to determine the best fit. Since Operation: Coming Home started in 2007, Royal Oaks Homes has participated in the creation of all four Hero Homes, as well as in the selection committee that reviews which veteran should be honored by the project. QUOTES:
"At Royal Oaks Homes, we take pride in our dedicated ongoing participation in Operation: Coming Home, a project that inspires everyone who volunteers their time and efforts in paying tribute to a member of our military who risked his or her life to serve our country," said Rich Van Tassel, president of Royal Oaks Homes. "PFC Cody Stanton is a most deserving honoree for our fifth Hero Home. We are humbled to be the primary builder for this upcoming home and look forward to contributing our expertise in crafting a home that allows him the greatest mobility, accessibility and comfort as he returns to live in North Carolina."
