Anderson is an African American woman business owner came to the Dallas SBDC for counseling in February of 2010 after gaining office space in the Dallas Business Incubator Center (BIC) located in the Bill J. Priest Institute (El Centro College). Mrs. Anderson left corporate America after securing a line of credit in order to start a trucking company (Houdek Enterprises). Donna's objective was to become a stable, innovative and growing woman owned freight brokerage firm using her proficient management executive with leadership experience in sales, marketing, operations, and business management. Ms. Anderson has 15 years of in-depth knowledge in market sectors including logistics, transportation, and extensive experience in identifying new business opportunities and creating plans to capitalize on them. She was introduced to another trucking company through her relationship with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and developed a joint venture, winning a large contract with DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) and Trinity Transport Authority. With the continued support of the SBDC, Donna purchased a small company in 2011, later renamed DNA Transcomp. She also secured a SBA Loan for $315,000 through JP Morgan Chase and a line of credit for $20,000. Houdek Enterprises, Inc. purchased 7 trucks, 10 trailers, hired 7 employees and produced collective revenues near $2.0 million since inception. Under the leadership of Donna N. Anderson, DNA Transcomp has obtained its own motor carrier authority, and expanded its business by purchasing the business system, trucks and trailers for a half million in 2011. Ms. Anderson is solely responsible for forging alliances with $67.1 billion USPS, $3.7 billion J.B. Hunt, $2.7 billion LBJ Project, and $738.5 million DART. Current clients include TxDOT, Fortune 100 Retailers, Federal Postal Services, and Construction Materials Manufacturers. Ms. Anderson's awards and recognition include 2013 Dallas Black Chamber Quest for Success Award, 2012 SBA - Women Entrepreneur Award, 2012 SBA Emerging (e200).
