CHICAGO, IL, January 30, 2013 (Press-News.org) As part of our contribution to the Chicago community, Festa Parties kicked off its first ever Bring Your Own Cereal Party,or BYOC for short, at Rockwood Place on Friday, January 25th, 2013. In an effort to support Lakeview Pantry, Christopher Festa will be making monthly cereal donations to the organization.
Anyone who has ever attended our TBOX, aka "Twelve Bars of Xmas" Pub Crawl knows how important cereal is for our pub crawl festivities. Ever since the very first TBOX , cereal has been present at our pub crawls, and it is now a Festa Parties tradition to use cereal as edible confetti. That is why, when Festa Parties decided to contribute to the Lakeview neighborhood community, we wanted to do it in our own special way - by donating a large amount of cereal to Lakeview Pantry.
Lakeview Pantry has been providing food to impoverished people since 1970. Although the group began with a single mission, its contributions to the community have greatly expanded over time. In addition to distributing food, Lakeview Pantry now also helps those in need by providing assistance in matters of unemployment and housing. From humble beginnings, during which a few people lent their neighbors a helping hand, this food pantry has grown to become a major force in the community. With the help of a volunteer corps of around 450 people and donations like those received from Festa Parties, Lakeview Pantry helps out more than 12,000 people in the Chicago area.
By enabling participants to have fun while doing good for our community, Festa Parties hoped to encourage people to make their own cereal donations. For those who brought boxes to give, they were awarded with the popular TBOX sunglasses, free passes to BeadQuest (the next large event hosted by Festa Parties in February 2013), and entry into the raffle whose prizes included gift certificates to local establishments such as Red Ivy, Stretch, and The Fifty/50, and a grand prize of a one night stay at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. Festa Parties and Rockwood Place also hosted a sexiest cereal shot competition, as well as awarded prizes for a dance competition.
Friday's event proved to be successful with 160 boxes of cereal donated by the 45 fans and friends of Festa Parties in attendance, including a few TBOX Royals. In addition, Rockwood Place made their own donation of 20 gallons of milk. These boxes of cereal and gallons of milk will be distributed to those members of the community who need them the most. In fact, with the continued support of Festa Parties, Lakeview Pantry estimates that it will distribute roughly two million pounds of donated food to community members throughout 2013.
In working with Lakeview Pantry, Christopher Festa demonstrates his dedication to supporting the community in a healthy, long-term way. A spokesperson from Lakeview Pantry recently expressed his appreciation for our contributions to their cause: "You said you were going to support us monthly and sure enough you have! We so much appreciate partnering with Festa Parties. You guys are going to be a fun group to follow!! I know you have a cereal 'fetish,' great news for us as cereal is in HUGE demand. YOU GUYS ROCK!!!"
While encouraged to continue to make donations on your own, the next BYOC party will be held in March 2013 after BeadQuest. Stay tuned for exciting details!
Festa Parties is a Chicago-based company that produces lively and popular events like TBOX, BeadQuest, and Cover Your Bases. We also contribute extensively to local charities and community organizations.
