ORLANDO, FL, February 08, 2013 (Press-News.org) Founder and Medical Director of the Vascular Vein Centers (VVC), Dr. Samuel P. Martin, M.D., F.A.C.S., completed the Registered Physicians' Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) Examination, designating him as a professional of the highest ability in interpreting vascular ultrasounds.
An independent not-for-profit founded in 1975, the ARDMS represents the global standard of excellence in sonography. The certifications awarded by ARDMS are accepted throughout the medical community by professional sonography and vascular organizations. Dr. Martin joins a select group of 1,653 physicians, nationwaide who have achieved advanced certification from ARDMS in vascular ultrasonography.
Vascular ultrasounds allow vein specialists to identify and treat serious venous disease with much more precision, safety and effectiveness. This technology uses high-frequency sound waves to map blood vessels like arteries and veins. Without it, dangerous medical conditions could go undetected.
Vascular ultrasound is particularly effective when performed if for suspected clots. This non-invasive diagnostic tool is also used to identify chronic venous insufficiency, or leaking valves which can cause edema or swelling. Vein doctors may use it to monitor patient recovery following surgery as well.
The power of vascular ultrasound technology lies in the specialist's ability to interpret these ultrasound readings. With Dr. Martin's ARDMS certification, patients are assured VVC provides the highest quality treatment for venous disease as well as evaluation for acute swelling and the possibility of an acute DVT.
According to the Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) credential, this certification "documents the highest standard in vascular ultrasound interpretation" and requires specific professional and educational achievements. This includes passing a 200-question examination, receiving ongoing vascular ultrasound education, making regular renewal efforts and maintaining compliance with recertification requirements.
This credential, which is offered to only physicians, "validates the clinical expertise fundamental to vascular sonography interpretation, and recognizes the skills and knowledge required for making consistent and reliable diagnoses in vascular disease."
