SACRAMENTO, CA, February 13, 2013 (Press-News.org) Sacramento Community Connections, a group of Sacramento area business leaders who come together each week to network, share ideas, contacts and referrals has recently announced that all proceeds from its March 14th business mixer and fundraiser will go to benefit two local charities, Albie Aware, and Atkinson Youth Services.
"Sacramento Community Connections is firmly committed not only to ongoing development of the local business community, but in doing everything we can to help local charitable organizations who are doing their best to support those in need in the community" said Mr. Dave Picton, a spokesperson for Sacramento Community Connections, and owner of Earth Guard Pest Control. "Albie Aware and Atkinson Youth Services are two groups that do such good work for the community that we just had to get involved."
Albie Aware provides education and testing for early detection of breast cancer for women and men in the Sacramento Valley. Their nurse navigators also serve as advocates for their clients in navigating the complex and costly medical system to fight for their health care and ensure they are receiving the correct treatment for their specific needs. "We are thrilled that Sacramento Community Connections has committed to donating proceeds from their event to our organization," said Cindy Love, executive director of Albie Aware. "Donations and sponsorships from corporations, business groups, and individuals are the life blood that enables us to continue to support women and men locally in need of breast cancer testing and treatment."
Atkinson Youth Services focuses on residential and educational treatment of special needs or abused children. Their group homes, foster families and school serve both boys and girls. Their efforts include trying to help their children have good memories while they work on improving their lives. "It is groups like Sacramento Community Connections that ensure we will be able to continue our work with emotionally disturbed and abused children," said Mrs. Carla Atkinson, founder of Atkinson Youth Services. "We greatly appreciate their generosity and commitment to children in need in the Sacramento area."
The Mardi Gras business mixer and fundraiser goes from 5:30-8:00pm on Thursday, March 14th at the Dante Club at 2330 Fair Oaks Blvd. In Sacramento. The cost is $20 per person and tickets can be purchased online at www.sac-connect.com. Local businesses can get involved by donating a prize to be raffled off at the event.
