Sandra Bertsch Offers Tips for Selecting a Wedding Photographer

Technical qualities can determine the successful choice of a wedding photographer, but many are discovering that personal elements also carry importance. Sandra Bertsch, wedding planner, offers tips to newlyweds.

2013-02-15
PHILADELPHIA, PA, February 15, 2013 (Press-News.org) Photographs are an important part of documenting some of the most memorable events in our lives--from birthday parties to the birth of a child. In most cases, a professional photographer will not be used for casual celebrations, but when it comes to weddings, these skilled cameramen are depended upon to capture excellent images. As such, a recent article from The Plain Dealer highlights many tips to consider when selecting a photographer for a wedding--from technical elements to the rapport the professional has with the client. Although the quality of the images is certainly a must, event planner Sandra Bertsch highlights tips related to the professionalism and personality of the photographer.

"When it comes to planning weddings, I have had clients that are completely minimal and others who want to go above-and-beyond," states Sandra Bertsch of Sandra B. Events, "However, one thing these individuals have in common is that they want to ensure that the special day is properly captured." According to Bertsch, this means that newlyweds are looking for images that offer more than proper light balance high-resolution quality--it means that clients want photographers to highlight the emotion of the event.

According to the article, it is important for brides and grooms to assess their style and how they want to represent it; not every professional photographer will offer the artistic quality to match it. "I work with a lot of photographers, but not everyone has the right personality or style to match the client," explains Sandra Bertsch. She suggests, "It is vital for newlyweds to choose a photographer who has the personality and style that matches the couple--not what the attendees or relatives want to see. When couples look at these pictures down the road, they will want to relate to images that convey their style as a pair, not just photographers that are professional."

The article explains that it is important for newlyweds to carefully select their photographer. First, prospective clients will want to look through portfolios to get a sense of what the professional is able to accomplish. Next, they will want to meet with the photographer ahead of time to ensure that they are a person worth working with on the day of the wedding.

Although proper planning can help a couple select the best photographer for a wedding, Sandra Bertsch notes that clients must always remember that they have to learn how to act in photos. Bertsch concludes, "A photographer can take a great photo, but only the bride and groom can portray their feelings. Although a wedding can be an anxiety-ridden experience for couples, it is important that they relax and act natural in front of the camera so that the professional can capture a genuine sense of emotion and not just a sense of nervousness."

Nebraska Supreme Court addresses out-of-state DUI convictions used to enhance penalties

2013-02-15
Police are very aggressive when on patrol for drunk drivers. If an officer observes a moving violation by a motorist, he or she may decide to stop the driver and look for signs of impairment. If the driver fails field sobriety tests, the officer may then make an arrest. While the consequences of a conviction are severe even for a first-offense DUI, they increase dramatically for repeat DUI offenders. A second-offense may bring jail time, which increases with subsequent convictions. A fourth-offense may be charged as a felony, which can bring 180 days to one year behind ...
