SAN DIEGO, CA, October 22, 2010 (Press-News.org) Fresco is an early form of painting on plaster that dates back to ancient Crete. Fresco painting flourished during the Renaissance, and is still a popular art form today. You can learn the skills of this art form and create your own piece at the fresco workshops being offered at the Palazzo Vecchio. The workshop includes a tour of the artwork in the museum of the Palazzo Vecchio.
The Palazzo Vecchio is a Romanesque fortress-palace and an important historic landmark in its own right. Originally constructed around 1300 AD as a seat for the magistrates of the city of Florence, it has been expanded several times throughout the centuries as it has been occupied by different regimes, including a period when it was home to the Medici family. Today it is one of the most recognizable municipal buildings in Tuscany and houses the office of the mayor of Florence and the seat of the city council, as well as an extensive museum.
Elena Bernardi, owner of Culturalitaly.com, says "This site itself is amazing because of its grandeur and historic significance. It's also a great place to study classic works of art." Her company offers reservations for the fresco workshops at http://www.culturalitaly.com
