DANVILLE, IL, February 21, 2013 (Press-News.org) International Greenhouse Company donated a complete greenhouse to Northeast Magnet Elementary School in Danville, Illinois and assisted in constructing the 18' by 24' greenhouse on the school's premises. The donation was inspired by the school's award-winning efforts and focus on health and wellness education. The greenhouse serves as a source of knowledge and motivation to all the students and has been used to aid in teaching across multiple curricula.
As a leader in greenhouses, greenhouse equipment, and garden accessories, Greenhouse Megastore (http://www.greenhousemegastore.com) has helped create a brand new environment where students can learn about science, health, and a variety of other topics. Teachers are already seeing the benefits of the donation, saying "There are endless applications."
Greenhouse Megastore is a source of in-depth technical knowledge for both gardening and greenhouses. They provide both the supplies necessary to maintain a greenhouse, as well as the greenhouses themselves. With this donation, Greenhouse Megastore used its unique expertise and experience in aiding with the design, selection and construction of the greenhouse for Northeast Elementary Magnet School. Considering the immediate success at Northeast Elementary, International Greenhouse Company and Greenhouse Megastore will likely be pursuing additional partnerships with innovative schools in the near future.
As students learn about agricultural processes necessary to grow basic foods, they are also learning about observation, the scientific method, vitamins and minerals, and what is necessary to support life. However, Greenhouse Megastore expects that this donation will not be limited to academic benefits, but will also contribute to a better understanding of health and food. Because childhood obesity is increasingly becoming a problem, the positioning of these irreplaceable lessons in an elementary school could not be more apt. The children of Northeast Elementary will be able to apply what they learn in their school greenhouse to their own homes or gardens. By growing vegetables at home, students will be able to contribute to the healthy choices of their family.
International Greenhouse Company and Greenhouse Megastore are proud to support the children and families of Danville, and hopes that this donation is the beginning of a long relationship between schools, healthy living and Greenhouse Megastore. International Greenhouse Company has been building commercial greenhouses around the country and around the world for the past 19 years. During this time period, hundreds of greenhouse projects have been completed in almost every state and several different countries. In 2001, this wealth of knowledge was tapped in order to launch an online web store for greenhouse growers to purchase greenhouse structures and greenhouse supplies for their commercial growing operations. In 2003, the rapidly growing web store at igcusa.com was moved to the GreenhouseMegastore.com domain which has since become one of the best known and trusted brands in the online greenhouse community.
