COSTA MESA, CA, February 23, 2013 (Press-News.org) The 32nd Annual Los Alamitos Race on the Base event involves a 5K Run, 5K Walk, 10K Run, 10K Skate/ Handcycle / Wheelchair, Mission: 1K Kids Run, Jr. Reverse Triathlon and Reverse Triathlon in addition to a health expo with over 70 vendors exhibiting. Relay Fitness Group will have several Evo Fitness Bike models available for the 7,000+ attendees to try out.
"We're very excited to show our latest commercial model of the Evo indoor cycle to the athletes attending this event," stated Mark de Grasse, Marketing Manager of Relay Fitness Group. "The Evo is designed to have a more natural feel, allowing athletes to maintain proper cycling form while training indoors."
The Evo Fitness Bike is a new type of indoor cycle that mimics the natural pedaling motion of outdoor bikes and requires balance, core strength, and upper body muscular endurance. It accomplishes this through a unique frame that sways like a real bike, allowing users to put more power into each pedal stroke by counterbalancing their weight. Unlike typical indoor cycles that have fixed frames, the Evo Fitness Bike's movement feels natural, allowing athletes to seamlessly transition from indoor to outdoor training without awkward balance issues.
Jack Nunn, Relay Fitness Group's head trainer and creator of the TriCore Indoor Cycling Certification, will be racing in the Reverse Triathlon event in the Clydesdale division. In addition to completing three Iron Man competitions over the last few years, Jack Nunn recently placed sixth overall in the Laguna Niguel Sprint Tri & Relay competition on February 17, 2013. The unique training system that he developed for the Evo Fitness Bike is designed to prepare athletes for competition, rather than simply increasing endurance levels.
Relay Fitness Group is particularly interested in serving the training demands of triathletes. The Evo Fitness Bike delivers functional results that other indoor cycles can't match, namely the ability to work on core and upper body endurance while also maintaining a standard pedal stroke. It was this reason that originally got Jack Nunn involved with the product in the first place; after training with the Evo, he came in with a time of 11 hours, 26 minutes in his last Iron Man competition. This was his best of the three Ironman Competitions in which he has participated. This time gave him an overall rank of 361 of over 3,000 participants, and a rank of 65 in his division (Male 30-34 D). His best portion of the event was cycling; he completed the 112 mile distance in 5 hours, 24 minutes, finishing 60th for his division and 314th overall.
"I think that every triathlete needs to train indoors at some point in order to be competitive," stated Jack Nunn. "The Evo indoor cycle allows you to train more effectively, and the swaying motion of the bike prevents you from losing your standard form when you train inside."
