AUSTIN, TX, March 05, 2013 (Press-News.org) The Healthy Living and Good Eating Expo, an event from My City Shows an Austin, TX based Event Management Company, has announced the addition of Educational Sessions to the Healthy Living and Good Eating Expo which will be held in Austin on May 4, 2013 on the St. Louis School grounds at 7601 Burnet Rd. The show will feature Healthy and Natural Products, Services, Food, Snacks, and activities. The educational sessions will be offered throughout the day from 10 AM to 5 PM with initial speakers including: Maryum Mitchell, M.Ed. and BS, Associate Manager, Administration, American Diabetes Association and Jennifer Mejias, B.S. Nutritional Science and Dietetics, UT Austin, American Diabetes Association Speakers Bureau of Central Texas.
Initial Educational session topics include; Resources Available from the American Diabetes Association for diabetics and pre-diabetics and Food Is Not the Enemy: Foods to Keep You on Track with Diabetes Without Restricting Your Diet.
The show will be held on Saturday May 4th from 10 AM to 8 PM, with the Educational sessions running from 10 AM to 5 PM, at 7601 Burnet Road. The event is expected to draw from the community at large, as well as the thousands of students and families from local schools. Specific outreach will be made to families with children and senior citizens. Product samples and give-aways from vendors and sponsors will occur throughout the day.
Unlike many other events and venues, product and food sampling and sales are encouraged. Meals and snacks will be available for sample and purchase from exhibiting vendors. Specialty diet vendors providing diet restricted foods including: Diabetic, Gluten Free, Vegan, Vegetarian, Free Range, and Dairy Free, as well as free range and locally grown and produced are expected.
Portions of the gate receipts, and food and monetary donations will be accepted benefitting Mobile Loaves and Fishes, and the Food Pantry which provides meals to home bound and underprivileged families and individuals throughout the Austin area.
For a limited time, discount admission vouchers will be available on the http://www.MyCityShows.com web site. Senior citizens, above the age of 65, will be admitted free. Admission is $3 per person and $5 per family.
