Industry & Commerce Ministry to Welcome Solamon in Jamaica; Minister Hylton to Confirm Solar Mandate

KINGSTON, JAMAICA, March 07, 2013 (Press-News.org) President Jay Yeo is proud to announce that he on behalf of Solamon Energy Corp, its partners and many stakeholders, will be officially welcomed to the island of Jamaica at 10:30am on Wednesday March 6 at the offices of the Honourable G. Anthony Hylton, who is currently serving the government as Minister of Industry, Investment & Commerce. Yeo will introduce Solamon and outline the company's plans in Jamaica, as well as the development of its office, staffed appropriately by professionals to enable efficient operations both in the Caribbean and Central America.

"It seems I have a very busy schedule over the next few months and after analysing each of these projects," Yeo explains, " I think in the short-term we'll likely deploy an elite staff of 10 employees, comprising designers, engineers, business development and finance executives to create a renewable energy development team that will work directly with our executive branch and oversee operations growth in the Caribbean, Central and eventually South America, and become a model of operational efficiency for us."

Minister Hylton has broached the energy crisis in Jamaica for over a decade, serving as Ambassador and Special Envoy (2002-2006) of the Most Honourable Prime Minister P J Patterson, with special responsibility for preparing an Energy Policy and a diversification plan for Jamaica's energy mix with the introduction of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as an alternative to oil.

"We look forward to working with Minister Hylton and his staff in the future," concludes Yeo. "He has always been a leading light in the country with respect to finding new energy solutions. We'll have a truly productive meeting and discuss our ongoing commercial prospects, as I'm sure he will enjoy hearing about our proposals, such as the OUR's 115MW bid, whereas we are finalizing plans to build a 20 MW photovoltaic solar power plant in Trelwany on the North Coast of Jamaica."

In addition to his current portfolio, Minister Hylton is currently the Deputy Chairman of the People's National Party and Chairman of the Institute of Law and Economics, the People's National Party Policy Commission and the Commercial Division of the Coffee Industry Board.

Minister Hylton has held the positions of Parliamentary Secretary, Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Trade in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (1993-2001), Minister of Mining and Energy (2001-2002) and Executive Director of Legal and Foreign Affairs in the Policy Review Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister (1990-1993). The Minister is regarded as a skilled negotiator and international trade specialist, who emerged as a leading figure in negotiations in the World Trade Organization (WTO); the European Union/African, Caribbean and Pacific (EU/ACP) Cotonou Agreement; the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) and the CARICOM Single Market and Economy.
