TUSTIN, CA, March 14, 2013 (Press-News.org) Jackie McDougall has been hired by Crystal Cove Alliance (CCA) as Vice President of Development, a new position in which McDougall will direct membership, major gifts and grants programs and the spectacular gala held each fall on the bluffs at Crystal Cove State Park.
McDougall, a longtime resident of neighboring Laguna Beach, will work closely with the CCA staff and its partners -- Crystal Cove State Park, Crystal Cove Beach Cottages and The Beachcomber Cafe.
"We are very fortunate to have attracted such an experienced development professional," said CCA President Harry Helling. "With a proven track record in conservation, education and restoration, we are looking forward to her working with our organization as we continue to deliver educational programs, contribute to both ocean and land conservation initiatives and complete the final restoration of Crystal Cove's iconic Historic District."
McDougall most recently spent eight years as Chief Development Officer at Catalina Island Conservancy. Earlier, she was Senior Director of Development at UC Irvine College of Medicine. Born in England, McDougall earned a bachelor's degree in pharmacy from London University and a master's of business administration from Henley School of Management in the United Kingdom. McDougall worked in various marketing roles in the U.K. and Belgium before coming to California to reside in Laguna Beach and become a U.S. citizen.
"Crystal Cove is an historic site in Orange County and Crystal Cove Alliance has done a wonderful job to save and resurrect this unique community. I am looking forward to this opportunity to help continue expansion of the innovative education and arts programs at the Cove and in the Crystal Cove State Park, as well as contribute to the restoration of the remaining 17 beachside cottages," said McDougall.
About Crystal Cove Alliance
Crystal Cove Alliance (CCA), the official nonprofit partner of Crystal Cove State Park, is dedicated to preserving the cultural, natural and historic resources of Crystal Cove. Founded in 1999 by Laura Davick to stop a planned luxury resort from overtaking the area, CCA rescued the historic site and initiated one of the most successful public-private partnership models in the history of the California State Park system.
Today, CCA has expanded its focus to include all 3.2 miles of pristine coastline, more than 3,700 acres of backcountry habitat and 1,100 acres offshore in the Underwater Park. CCA has turned Crystal Cove into a laboratory for developing innovative educational programs and experiences that promote science and environmental literacy to more than 1.5 million visitors and students each year. CCA's conservation work insures access by a range of recreational enthusiasts while maintaining protection of critical habitat and protecting endangered and threatened species.
The partnership between Crystal Cove State Park and the Crystal Cove Alliance has led to the renovation of 29 historic beachfront cottages now open for overnight stays, as well as historic education programs designed for the public. CCA is proud of the park receiving the prestigious 2007 Governor's Award for Historic Preservation. A leader in fundraising, restoration, education and concession services, CCA is devoted to creating a sustainable future for Crystal Cove. Seventeen historic cottages remain to be restored.
