Deedra Hughes, founder of a digital agency in Atlanta, will take part in a panel discussion about new and traditional media at the symposium.

2013-03-21
ATLANTA, GA, March 21, 2013 (Press-News.org) Deedra Hughes, founder of Hughes Media, a digital agency in Atlanta, will speak at The Georgia Association of Broadcasters' annual GAB-UGA Winter Broadcasting Institute this Tuesday, March 19, 2013. The 2013 Winter Institute will feature a symposium of broadcast professionals and students from the University of Georgia's Grady School of Journalism, and will feature a discussion about how new and traditional media work together. The discussion panel will be made up of representatives from UGA and media professionals: Vicki Michaelis Carmichal, Chair for Sports Journalism; Itai Himelboim, professor of telecommunications; Richard Warner, founder of What's Up and Deedra Hughes, founder of Hughes Media. At the symposium, attendees will be given the chance to listen to a discussion about new and traditional media, as well as take part in a question and answer session.

Deedra Hughes has over ten years experience working at Clear Channel and Cox Radio, traditional broadcast divisions. In 2000, she founded Hughes Media as a full-service advertising agency before transforming it into a digital agency specializing in search engine optimization as industry changes demanded.

"I am excited to speak to students about how we use traditional media, such as radio commercials, to drive traffic to a website," said Hughes on Monday. "At Hughes Media, we enjoy using social media tools to help build brand awareness. It's an exciting time for all agencies to create best practice standards." Hughes said she looks forward to the panel discussion, and is "interested to hear the input of Richard Warner, Professor Itai Himelboim and Professor Michaelis Carmichal."
