Chef Gephart will compete head-to-head in an Iron Chef-style competition against other local and well-known chefs. Students of Wake Forest Elementary will serve as sous chefs at the event, giving them the opportunity to learn about healthy, local eating. As the chefs battle it out in the Cafeteria Kitchen Stadium, students and parents will have the opportunity to participate in a number of interactive and educational activities including a sweet potato and oatmeal sampling station, learning how to eat organically on a budget, veggie sculpture building and creating flavorful dips for vegetables.

Committed to promoting healthy living among all children, Chef Gephart works alongside other local elementary schools throughout the Triangle to create similar competitions with a primary focus on both physical activity and healthy eating. Through various partnerships and community service initiatives, The Chef's Academy is devoted to educational opportunities that inspire families to create nutritious meals and work to build healthier generations.

QUOTES:
"Participating in events like the Iron Carrot is not only a great way for The Chef's Academy to get involved in the local community, but it also gives the students of Wake Forest Elementary School the opportunity to get first-hand experience in a fun, educational culinary event," said Jeffrey Bane, president of The Chef's Academy's North Carolina campus. "By partnering with local elementary schools, we hope to encourage and inspire young children to incorporate smart eating habits and exercise into their lives so they can grow up to be healthy, active adults."
