IRVINE, CA, March 23, 2013 (Press-News.org) Laura Khouri, President of Western National Property Management, has been honored by the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM ) as a Woman Changing The World of Real Estate Management. Khouri is among a select group of women recognized by IREM for their innovation, mentoring, community service, leadership and other laudable initiatives.

According to IREM, the number of female Certified Property Managers (CPMs) is on the rise. The organization recently reported that the percentage of women CPMs has increased from nine percent in 1983 to more than 50 percent today.

"In today's market, women are taking the lead and shaping the industry," said Khouri, who noted that she is honored to be among those women awarded IREM's distinction. "As a whole, women bring a fresh perspective and a dedicated spirit to their work. For that reason, it is important for all those in our industry to continue to inspire young professionals who are seeking the opportunity to grown and learn."

Khouri inspires young professionals through her own daily blog, called "Luminosity," through which she provides insights on how to succeed not only in life, but in the real estate industry.
"In big ways and small, women are changing the face of the real estate management industry daily," said IREM 2012 President James A. Evans, CPM . "This was the impetus for IREM to identify Laura Khouri and other women who represent the absolute best of what our industry can accomplish."

As President of Western National Property Management, one of the premier multifamily property management companies in the Western U.S., Khouri oversees the management of more than 24,500 units within 164 communities located throughout Southern and Northern California, Nevada, and Utah.

According to Khouri, she began her career at Western National Group in 1985 as a "Gal Friday," and quickly discovered that she had a passion for the multifamily industry and property management. As a result, she has worked in many different aspects of the property management business at Western National Group, and has obtained an invaluable amount of experience and knowledge. Khouri then brought this industry experience to the role of President when she was appointed as the head of Western National Property Management in 2010.

"My primary goal is to make Western National Property Management the multifamily company of choice, not just for multifamily owners and users, but also when it comes to hiring and retaining associates," Khouri explained.

Western National Group is a 55-year-old, fully integrated multifamily acquisition, development, construction and property management firm headquartered in Irvine, Calif.
