Raleigh Plastic Surgery Center's Dr. Jeremy Pyle Receives American Board of Plastic Surgery Certification

Surgeon accepted by the Board after completing rigorous education and examination process

2013-03-25
RALEIGH, NC, March 25, 2013 (Press-News.org) Raleigh Plastic Surgery Center, a leading provider of aesthetic and reconstructive excellence for over 35 years, is pleased to announce that Dr. Jeremy Pyle has successfully completed certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). Dr. Pyle received his certification after completing six years of residency training in an accredited plastic surgery program, passing comprehensive written and oral exams, and undergoing a review by the Board of all the procedures performed during the first part of his career.

Dr. Pyle has been a surgeon with Raleigh Plastic Surgery Center for two years. He received his Bachelor of Science degree at The University of Dayton and attended medical school at The University of Illinois. He is a member of the North Carolina Society of Plastic Surgeons, the North Carolina Medical Society, and the Wake County Medical Society. Although certification by the ABPS is a voluntary process, Dr. Pyle views this as a necessary goal for any surgeon who desires to perform plastic surgery procedures in the United States.

"The ABPS serves as a de facto peer review to ensure that patients who desire the highest quality and safety when choosing to undergo plastic or cosmetic surgery have a way to verify the credentials of their surgeon," said Dr. Pyle. "Knowing that your plastic or cosmetic surgeon is certified by the ABPS is an important first step for patients desiring the highest quality care."

According to its website, ABPS was organized in June 1937 by representatives of various groups interested in plastic surgery. The organization received recognition as a subsidiary of the American Board of Surgery in May 1938 and was given the status of a major specialty board in May 1941 by action of the Advisory Board for Medical Specialties. The ABPS is one of 24 medical specialty boards that make up the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). Through ABMS, the boards work together to establish common standards for physicians to achieve and maintain board certification. The boards were founded by their respective specialties to protect the public by assessing and certifying doctors who meet specific educational, training, and professional requirements.

Dr. Pyle joined Raleigh Plastic Surgery Center in 2011. Although originally from the Midwest, Dr. Pyle says that he's always been attracted to North Carolina's natural beauty, people, proximity to a number of great places, and beautiful golf courses. He added that being a surgeon at Raleigh Plastic Surgery Center allows him to work with a well-respected and comprehensive plastic surgery practice in such a great and vibrant a city as Raleigh.

"It can be difficult to find a plastic surgeon and staff trained to and willing to address complicated and challenging problems, but Raleigh Plastic Surgery does that, and I'm privileged to be a part of it," said Dr. Pyle. "I am honored to have been accepted into the [ABPS] Board, and I look forward to continuing to provide the level of care that has allowed this certification to our patients."

Founded in 1974, Raleigh Plastic Surgery Center has been widely recognized as one of the best plastic surgery centers in the Triangle. The practice offers a wide range of aesthetic and reconstructive surgical procedures and contains an on-site state-licensed and AAAHC-accredited surgery center for patient convenience. Over the years, the practice has supported several charities and continues to remain active within their community.
