Gov. Pat McCrory Proclaims 2013 As Year Of The Veterinarian In North Carolina

Governor Commends Observance By N.C. Citizens Of Veterinarian Impact on Public Health And Safety

RALEIGH, NC, March 30, 2013 (Press-News.org) The North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association (NCVMA) (http://www.ncvma.org/) has announced that Gov. Pat McCrory has signed a proclamation announcing 2013 as the Year of the Veterinarian, and commends citizen observance of veterinarians' impact on the health and safety of animals and humans. The state of North Carolina joins the NCVMA in recognizing veterinarians' dedication to preserving the human-animal bond and promoting the highest standards of science-based, ethical animal welfare. The proclamation states that veterinarians play a vital role in protecting the quality and security of our nation's national herd and food supply.

2013 marks the 150th anniversary of organized veterinary medicine in the United States.
