SANTA CLARA, CA, March 30, 2013 (Press-News.org) INTERXION HOLDING NV, a leading European provider of carrier-neutral colocation data center services, will exhibit at Cloud Connect Santa Clara from April 2-5 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California. Jelle Frank van der Zwet, cloud segment marketing manager at Interxion, will be accompanied by Gerry Fasig, vice president of sales, cloud and hosting, at CoreSite, to discuss the differences in cloud uptake between Europe and North America as well as how the two companies are collaborating to help align opportunities for enterprises in both regions.
Cloud computing in North America has been growing steadily since its introduction about a decade ago, and, in response, local service providers have brought to market a number of customizable cloud environments, opening up possibilities for organizations to host data or services in the cloud. As a result, U.S. IT managers are focused on moving data into cloud environments, leading to a 24 percent average growth rate in cloud sales since 2010. While the benefits of cloud computing are truly global, less than 25 percent of public cloud revenue stems from the European market. As a result, many are asking: why is North America so far ahead and, similarly, what is preventing similar growth in Europe?
Van der Zwet comments, "Europe is a few years behind North America in terms of cloud evolution, but demand is growing in many ways. With solutions tailored to the needs of today's enterprises and SMBs, common hesitancies such as performance and security are beginning to melt away, giving way to the proliferation of cloud computing across many verticals and local markets."
In particular, communities of interest and direct connects, such as the one offered by Amazon Web Services in Interxion's facilities, are helping European enterprises address these perceived obstacles. As a result, the benefits of the cloud are becoming far more attainable for European companies and, in many cases, North American providers are now expanding their footprint into Interxion's facilities to address this growing market.
Cloud Connect, produced by UBM Tech, brings together enterprise IT professionals, developers, service providers and cloud computing innovators to discuss the latest cloud information and news, including private and hybrid clouds, industry standards, cloud migration strategies and cloud security management. Interxion and CoreSite will exhibit at booth #414. If you are a member of the press or analyst community and would like to meet Interxion on-site at Cloud Connect to discuss how Interxion and CoreSite are helping to address the perceived cloud obstacles in Europe, please contact Sarah Love at interxion@marchpr.com or +1 (617) 690-9881.
