LONDON, ENGLAND, April 06, 2013

Dedicated e-learning company Chalksy have launched a teacher-to-student marketplace that enables millions of users to teach, learn and earn online. Founded in November 2012 by two young British entrepreneurs, the startup focuses on making online teaching and learning interactive and fun by meeting the 3A's - anytime, anywhere, anyone.

Because e-learning has traditionally rested upon a one-way model of communication, educationalists have often assumed a skeptical approach towards e-education, deeming it inadequate to cope with the differentiated needs of students. However previous associations of a transmission style of communication within online learning are being challenged by Chalksy's integrational philosophy.

"We have a preoccupation with communication theory", said Adam Piotrowski, a University Lecturer who helped found the company. "Chalksy are applying an integrational approach to communication by harnessing mainstream voice over video Internet Protocols such as Skype and Facetime. This will permit lessons to occur in the real time, creating the conditions that allow all parties to openly construct possible interpretations".

This UK startup could prove to be significant in the evolving relationship between education and technology as Chalksy offers an alternative to existing online learning sites through the prioritising of live tuition. "Whilst existing e-learner sites offer some useful content to learners, they are essentially purchasing an uploaded date file that is static" observes Chalksy's CEO Phil Cook, "as learners and teachers the moments that we cherish and capture us do not arrive from reading out or listening to pre-determined material, instead they come from instances that are dynamic and creative".

In paying scrupulous attention to the value employers attribute to candidates with a ready mix of relevant vocational and educational experience - a view that is supported by institutional reports - like the AAC&U and the CIHE - Chalksy have shown their measure by releasing a platform that is focused on being partner to current students and employees from all disciplines and industries.

Still taking it's first few steps, Chalksy are now recruiting teachers from all subject areas - ranging from the scholastic to the recreational - from around the world. The full site is expected to launch in April 2013 and will contain a host of lessons and courses viewable and available for users looking to support and advance current talents or develop competencies in supplementary areas.

Chalksy Ltd specialises in live e-education and has been operating since 2012.
