Goodall Hospital's VP of Operations Shares Insight Into This Extensive Healthcare Provider Committed to Serving the Community

Healthcare Digital spoke with Goodall Hospital VP of operations, Pat Aprile, to learn more about the ins and outs of the hospital.

SAN DIEGO, CA, October 28, 2010

Healthcare Digital spoke with Goodall Hospital VP of operations, Pat Aprile, to learn more about the ins and outs of the hospital.

Goodall Hospital is a 58-bed, nonprofit, acute care hospital located in Sanford, Maine. Founded in 1928, the hospital and its ancillary systems currently experience 144,000 patient encounters each year. For thousands of southern Maine families, "care starts here," which means that the Goodall organization prevents, diagnoses, treats and comforts patients through all stages of life.

According to Aprile, "Our goal is to extend our services into the nearby communities by building patient service centers in more locations." Goodall has established a reputation as the leaders in providing healthcare services. "As a small, independent hospital, we don't turn anyone away," explains Aprile. "We know who we are; what we do, we do well."

Two important technological advancements that the hospital makes use of are the 64-Slice CT Scanner and the GE HDXT MRI. The 64-Slice CT Scanner scans only an area of interest on a patient, which reduces radiation exposure by 70 percent. The system also displays 3-D images for more exact details of an area in need of attention. The scanner has an on-the-fly switch mode, and the capacity to be upgraded over the following years. The GE HDXT MRI offers
patients more comfort in the MRI scanning process.
