CARLSBAD, CA, April 12, 2013 (Press-News.org) David Davis, founder and CEO of StarPoint Advantage (www.starpointadvantage.com), was among 43 executives honored recently at the sixth annual San Diego Business Journal Information Technology Executive of the Year Awards.
The event was held at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park and featured a private networking reception for 500 of San Diego's top IT executive leaders.
A panel of independent judges picked the finalists and honorees after a rigorous nomination process.
"It's a special treat to be in such august company of my peers," said Davis. "The Business Journal's list of IT executives is an elite group, and I am honored to be included among them for recognition."
Davis, who launched the fast-growing StartPoint Advantage in 2008 after spinning off the business from a national partnership, was named a finalist in the small, privately held company category.
StarPoint Advantage is a leader in delivering IT managed services to a wide variety of clients, especially those directly and indirectly involved in San Diego's legal industry, as well as a number of other important business sectors.
"Today's IT executive must possess many talents to manage infrastructures, ever-changing software systems and rapidly expanding hardware needs," said Randy C. Frisch, president and publisher of the Business Journal. "Without forward-thinking IT executives, 'doing more with less' would be impossible."
Forty-three finalists and eight winners from every sector of the high-tech world were honored.
The executives who were recognized were chosen by a panel of IT industry professionals: Gerald Ellison of ESET North America, Mark Kohlheim of CACI International Inc. and Chuck Phillips of Digitaria.
Sponsors of the recognition program included title sponsor, ESET, and gold sponsors, AIS, Robert Half Technology and SDA Security.
Davis has also been singled out for recognition in the weekly business paper's Most Admired CEOs event for two years running, and he competed in the 2012 IT Executive of the Year Awards.
The Most Admired award was not the first time that David's efforts have been recognized as founder and CEO.
The 5-year-old firm placed No. 30 on the Business Journal's 2011 list of the 100 Fastest Growing Privately Held Companies.
The company ranked No. 30 with a three-year growth rate of 108.5 percent since 2008, putting it in the upper third of the fastest-growing businesses in the county.
