Learning Italian in Italy with Siena with Gusto, the New Course

Scuola Leonardo da Vinci presents "Siena With Gusto", its brand-new course that joins Italian language with Italian cooking lessons and tasting itineraries.

TUSCANY, ITALY, April 12, 2013

Siena is an enchanting town, famous not only for its historic and artistic heritage but also for the high quality, cultural significance and regional integrity of its food and wine.

"Siena with Gusto!" is a new course offered by the Leonardo da Vinci School of Siena to all those who would like to combine their passion for studying the Italian language with an interest in learning about Tuscan cuisine and the local products of Siena.

This course is concise but substantial. Students attend classes for one week, Monday through Friday, studying Italian language in the morning and attending cultural activities and cooking lessons in the afternoon.

The language lessons are held in small groups of no more than 10, each adapted to the participants' level. The goal of these lessons is to develop the students' comprehensive language skills from listening to oral communication, to reading and writing.

In the afternoon participants will discover the traditional recipes and flavours of Siena. The program starts with a guided tour of the city, followed by an aperitif in the magnificent 14th century Piazza del Campo. Students will be introduced to the origins of Siena's wine and food traditions in which indigenous ingredients are featured.

During cooking classes the chef will explain how to adapt traditional methods of preparation to a more modern kitchen. These sessions culminate in a sit-down dinner, when everyone gathers to enjoy the variety of dishes they helped create during the lesson.

A wine tasting guided by an expert sommelier is an equally important component of this culinary and cultural itinerary. Among the justly celebrated wines of Tuscany, the guest of honour will be the world renowned Brunello.

In 2013 the course will be available on the following dates:

- May, 6th - 10th;
- September, 2nd - 6th;
- November, 11th - 15th.

Further information and prices of the Italian language courses in Siena are available on the official website of the school.
