Robert Tuzzo Joins Jazz Arts Project Board of Directors

The Red Bank, New Jersey Jazz Arts Project has named long-time supporter and financial services expert Robert J. Tuzzo to its Board of Directors.

2013-04-13
RED BANK, NJ, April 13, 2013 (Press-News.org) Robert J. Tuzzo, CEO and owner of Total Financial Concepts Inc., has been asked to serve on the board directors of the Jazz Arts Project, a Red Bank N.J. non-profit organization. With a mission to "preserve, promote and perpetuate the American musical art form known as jazz," the Jazz Arts Project has tapped the asset management company expert to help it further its mission to offer musical educational services to youth and help preserve the art form of jazz in America.

As a lifelong musician and avid supporter of the musical arts in New Jersey, Tuzzo has developed a close relationship with the Jazz Arts Project, and most recently he performed at one of the group's musical events, the Sixth Annual Frank Sinatra Birthday Bash held in December. He said his goal will be to utilize his financial expertise and musical experience to help the group meet its goals.

"I am very excited to be part of the Jazz Arts Project's board of directors," said Tuzzo. "This new appointment will certainly allow me an opportunity to utilize my experience in the financial services industry help expand the financial health of the organization, which will ultimately allow us to also cultivate new interests in jazz music and ensure its longevity as a vital art form.

Tuzzo's musical background began at the age of ten and developed into a life-long career for the singer and drummer. From 1972 through 1985, he was a member of the popular trio known as FDR Drive and shared the same bill in variety shows and concerts with legendary bands such as The Platters, Danny and the Juniors, Len Barry, The Earls, The Belmonts, Gary U.S. Bonds, The Dovells and the Shirelles.

Tuzzo left FDR Drive in 1985 to shift focus on a career in the financial services industry, which lead to his founding of the Edison New Jersey-based asset management company Total Financial Concepts, Inc. However, music has remained a large part of Tuzzo's life and he has worked closely over the years with the board of the Jazz Arts Project as part of that process. He said it was not a complete surprise to him to be asked to serve on the board and was in invitation he quickly and enthusiastically accepted.

"I'm honored and excited to have been given this opportunity to support such a wonderful organization," said Tuzzo. "I look forward to taking our mission to new levels and working with my fellow board members in furthering our goals to help youth understand and appreciate this wonderful art form."

The Jazz Arts Project is instrumental in introducing jazz music to young students. They hold educational workshops and special programs designed especially for young students, many of whom have never seen or held a musical instrument. Jazz Arts Projects camps teach youngsters about music and get them interested in jazz in the hopes that their appreciation will help to preserve and grow this great American art form and captivate their interest for years to come.

Bob Tuzzo's experience and expertise will certainly help grow the financial arm and sponsorships of the Jazz Arts Project but from the sounds of it his role won't be limited to spreadsheets, ledgers and fund raisers. "I hope to bring new and fresh ideas to the organization that will help us continue to nurture the rising talent of young students interested in jazz," said Tuzzo.
