1. Jeff Bezos - (Amazon) Pioneer in the world of internet commerce, hHe founded Amazon.com in 1994 and was criticized by many in the industry who projected that his fledgling business would fail. Bezos, however, remained eternally optimistic.

2. Mark Zuckerberg - (Facebook) Any site that boasts over 1 billion users, as Facebook does, is going to be highly influential, and as Founder and CEO of Facebook, much of that influence falls to Zuckerberg. Zuckerberg signed the "Giving Pledge", promising to donate at least 50 percent of his wealth to charity over the course of his lifetime.

3. Steve Jobs - (Apple) It's hard to imagine a world without Apple products in it. Apple has changed the way we interact online. When Jobs announced a new product launch before his death, it was almost as though the Earth stood still in anticipation. From personal computers to animated films, how we listen to and purchase music, use our phones and even read books, Jobs left his indelible print on how we communicate, entertain and live.

4. Bill Gates - (Microsoft) One of the most influential people in the world. He is cofounder of one of the most recognized brands in the computer industry with nearly every desk top computer using at least one software program from Microsoft. He is co-chairman of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. His net worth is $66 billion.

5. Steven Spielberg - (Dreamworks) Much more than a producer-director, Steven Spielberg continues to be a tastemaker and a trend-setter in the entertainment business. Spielberg has had incredible longevity - releasing hit after hit for over 30 years. He started Dreamworks Studios when he couldn't get things done to his satisfaction.

6. Elon Musk - (PayPal, Tesla Motors, SpaceX) The inspiration for Iron Man, Musk remains one of pop culture's wealthiest and most fascinatingly diverse entrepreneurs. Having already drastically changed the way we pay for things online by cofounding PayPal, he's now steadfast in his quest to shape which cars we drive and which planets we live on. Musk has spread automotive electricity across international borders and if all else fails on Earth, he'll just send us to another planet through his space transportation business, SpaceX.

7. Larry Page - (Google) An example of a businessperson who can overcome any challenge. Larry and his company have faced much criticism and received ample praise over the years for his company's actions. But in the midst of the storm, he has never let what others think sway him from pursuing the course for his company that he considers the best.

8. Sir Richard Branson - (Virgin) Anyone who owns more than 400 companies and is worth billions of dollars is clearly doing many things right. When he met with "experts" who advised he not enter an already crowded field, Branson followed his gut, with his trademark slogan, "Oh, screw it. Let's do it."
