Morrisville Town Councilman Steve Rao To Speak On WSHA 88.9 FM's UpFront! Radio Show April 13

Councilman Rao Invited As Guest Speaker On Radio Show To Discuss Local Job Creation Strategies

RALEIGH, NC, April 14, 2013 (Press-News.org) Steve Rao, (http://steverao.com/), an at-large member of the Morrisville, N.C., Town Council, has announced that he will appear as a guest speaker on job creation strategies for Shaw University's WSHA 88.9 FM show UpFront! on Saturday, April 13 at 9 a.m. UpFront! is a weekly radio program hosted by community representative Janet Howard, the executive director of Harriet B. Webster Task Force for Students Success in North Carolina, an initiative that shares insight from community leaders and elected officials regarding underserved communities in the Triangle. Rao will discuss the importance of job creation strategies in the Triangle, where innovation and entrepreneurship are extremely prevalent.

Along with the Morrisville Chamber of Commerce, Rao led efforts to launch the Morrisville Innovation Foundation and its HOTTovation program, which provides startup companies with space, wireless Internet access and membership to local entrepreneurial support organizations for up to six months. Since the beginning of the program, five startup companies have been established in Morrisville, providing jobs to innovators in the area. Rao is committed to spurring job growth in Morrisville and beyond in the Triangle, as he and his fellow council members find ways to support small businesses, entrepreneurships and startup companies in the IT industry.

A resident of Morrisville, N.C., for 10 years, Councilman Steve Rao works to promote economic development by supporting local entrepreneurs, small businesses and startup companies in the IT industry to create new jobs in the Morrisville area and beyond. As business development manager at Alphanumeric Systems, he manages partnerships while increasing revenue and decreasing costs for companies through IT innovations. While serving his two-year term as an at-large member on the Morrisville Town Council through 2013, Rao serves as a member of the State IT Advisory Board, to which he was appointed by state Sen. Marc Basnight. He is charter member of the TIE Carolinas, a global mentoring organization for entrepreneurs, and a board member of the North Carolina Rural Entrepreneurship through Action Learning, an organization that focuses on entrepreneurial development in rural North Carolina, as he works to spur job creation locally.
