LONDON, ENGLAND, April 21, 2013 (Press-News.org) This is a rare opportunity to reflect on the riches of the Christian contemplative tradition. Contemplation as the art of silent prayer, is no longer confined to the monasteries but is being reclaimed by the ordinary Christian. This is a course for anybody who wishes to explore their Christian spiritual roots.
Well known speakers will lead the sessions and will walk us through the Christian mystical tradition from Jesus to the present time. Great mystics who have shaped the tradition will be studied. The speakers include Fr Laurence Freeman, a Benedictine monk and Director of The World Community of Christian Meditation, the Most Reverend Metropolitan Kallistos Ware, Dr Peter Tyler, Kim Nataraja, Director of The School of Meditation and other speakers with depth of knowledge in the field.
The course is being organized by Meditatio the outreach of The World Community for Christian Meditation. Founded in 1991, the community has over 2000 meditation groups around the world. These groups comprise people of all ages and walks of life and meet regularly in offices, schools, churches, homes, prisons, and Centres.
The 13-session course will run from April to November and starts on Thursday 25 April. Mainly fortnightly, from 6.30 to 9.00 pm it will include meditation, talks, and discussion and light refreshments. Bookings are requested in advance for the whole term.
