The goal is to decrease stress by promoting confidence and self-esteem each time the individual opens their mouth to smile.
Research performed by scientist, Dr. Sara Pressman, concluded that one remedy for stress relief is smiling. Dr. Pressman conducted research at the University of Kansas and stated that, while "Smiling is not a cure-all for every type of stress, especially for long-term stressors, for brief, acute stressors, and only for short periods of time -or as an antidote to a passing negative mood."
