LateRooms.com - Australia's Silent Film Festival Coming to Sydney

A number of classic silent films from the early 20th century will be screened in Sydney next month.

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, August 24, 2010 (Press-News.org) Movie buffs will have an opportunity to enjoy some of the best and most amusing moments of early 20th century cinema when Australia's Silent Film Festival comes to Sydney next month.

Numerous classics will be screened throughout the event, which has been praised by David Shepard of the US Film Preservation Associates for featuring "excellent, valid works of film art".

The festival kicks off on September 11th 2010 at Pitt Street Uniting Church with For the Term of His Natural Life, the Norman Dawn-directed piece from 1927 starring the likes of George Fisher, Arthur McLaglen and Jessica Harcourt.

Tourists who head out from their Sydney hotels to be a part of the audience for this screening will be kept entertained with a live score from singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Colin Offord.

On September 16th, the festival moves to the Wesley Conference Centre, where it remains until the event closes on September 25th.

Anyone staying in some of the budget accommodation Sydney has available should find a silent film to tickle their fancy, as well as their funny bones, at Comedies for Kids and the Young at Heart on September 18th.
