ANN ARBOR, MI, April 24, 2013 (Press-News.org) Tangent Medical Technologies (www.tangentmedical.com), an innovator in IV therapy products and creator of the NovaCathTM Integrated IV Catheter System, today launched an annual recognition program to promote excellence in nursing in conjunction with National Nurses Week 2013. Deemed the Nurses' Choice Awards, Tangent Medical is targeting clinicians across the nation and empowering them to nominate co-workers who exemplify excellence in patient care. Award submissions begin today and continue through May 2, 2013 at http://www.TangentMedical.com/NCA2013. Winners will be announced and featured on Tangent Medical's website at the start of National Nurses Week beginning May 6, 2013. Nominators are asked to submit individuals who have been an inspiration in any or all of these areas:
Improving Patient Outcomes in IV Therapy
Improving the Overall Quality of Patient Care
Improving Patient Comfort & Satisfaction
Improving Patient Safety
"I recently wrote a blog titled, 'Every Week Should Be Nurses Appreciation Week,'" said Elyse Kemmerer, Tangent Medical Director of Marketing. "Oftentimes, nurses are not given the recognition they deserve. In the area of IVs, a lot is asked of nurses in terms of ensuring patient safety, comfort, satisfaction and setting patients up for a positive outcome. And that is just one aspect of the job. The Nurses' Choice Awards is a small way to bring awareness to the many nurses across our country who are going above and beyond for their patients. We hope to share many of these submitted stories through social media and our website and possibly get some national PR exposure for the winners and nominators who are taking the time to recognize excellence in patient care."
As the creators of the NovaCathTM Integrated IV Catheter System, Tangent Medical seeks to engage with nurses, students and staff to gather valuable, ongoing feedback on the experiences of healthcare workers who administer traditional IVs. "We are excited to open new opportunities to recognize and engage with clinicians, especially as we concentrate on commercializing the NovaCath, which will elevate the nurse's ability to provide excellence in patient care," added Curtis Bloch, Tangent Medical Senior Vice President of Marketing.
About the Nurses' Choice Awards
Tangent Medical will select multiple winners who will each receive a Nurses' Choice Award plaque with $300 in educational gifts*. Winning nominators will also be rewarded with $100 in educational gifts*. Submissions close at 5pm PST on May 2, 2013. *Educational gifts can be used to help fund registration fees to attend a national nursing conference, a Nursing Professional Society Membership or to purchase educational materials at the Lippincott All Nurses eStore.
