NASSAU, BAHAMAS October 29, 2010 (Press-News.org) Aviation and its historic role in the Bahamas will be highlighted at a special celebration in Nassau on Thursday, Oct. 28. The Breitling Boutique, a specialty watch retailer operated by Little Switzerland with shops located in highly sought-after travel destinations in the Caribbean and beyond, is partnering with Breitling, developer and manufacturer of watches, to host the event in the downtown area. The invitation-only event also will be an opportunity to feature the Breitling Chronomat B01 timepiece and launch the newly-remodeled Breitling Boutique.
"Aviation in the Bahamas" will be located on Bay Street between Parliament and Charlotte streets. The special guest speaker will be the Director General of tourism and aviation for The Commonwealth of The Bahamas, Mr. David Johnson. There will be an aviation gallery showing the history of flying in the Bahamas and a display about Breitling's link to aviation. The Breitling Boutique will showcase its Breitling chronometers, highly popular worldwide with aviators and other consumers who enjoy the special features.
Always a favorite in the islands, top band Visage will be performing. The B01 dancers also will entertain guests. The new Chronomat 01watch will be featured and guests will be able to see the newly reopened store featuring updated furniture and interior design giving the boutique a more sleek and modern feel.
"We are delighted to be hosting this event in Nassau with Breitling," explained Tony Wasserman, vice president of marketing for Little Switzerland. "Aviation has played an important role in the history of the Bahamas and throughout the Caribbean. Because Breitling has such an affinity for aviation, it seems highly appropriate to hold a celebration of aviation, Breitling and Little Switzerland right on Bay Street."
Although Breitling chronometers are designed with aviators in mind, the Breitling Boutique has observed that many other consumers purchase the watches to wear as fashion pieces, because they view the chronometer functions as status symbols. The Breitling Boutique carries an extensive line of Breitling's technically oriented watches, which are mostly mechanical and electronic chronometers.
The new Chronomat B01 is a man's watch with specific chronograph/stopwatch functions, including large central seconds counter with the Breitling logo at the end; 30 minute counter sub-dial located at the 3 o'clock position; 12 hour counter sub-dial at the 6 o'clock position; and screw-in pushers.
Breitling manufactures all its watches in Switzerland. Most of the chronometers feature a large face, enabling the wearer to read the time and other functions easily on the analog dials. Many Breitling watches spotlight a mechanical automatic winding mechanism, date display, split-second, moon phases and flyback functions.
Little Switzerland shops are located across the Caribbean in the popular travel destinations of Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Cayman Islands, Curaçao, Nassau, Puerto Rico, St. John, St. Kitts, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, Tortola and Turks & Caicos. There are also stores in Key West, Fla. Little Switzerland's concierge team pampers shoppers while encouraging them to purchase the most exquisite jewelry and watches as a special memento of their Caribbean vacation.
