AmOne raises over $6,600 for the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life.

2013-05-03
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, May 03, 2013 (Press-News.org) AmOne , a leading online financial solutions provider, was a proud participant in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life event for the South Florida area.

The American Cancer Society is dedicated to helping persons who face cancer. They support research, patient services, early detection, treatment and education.

The American Cancer Society , the nation's leading voluntary health organization, honored cancer survivors and their caregivers during this year's Relay For Life of Plantation, held April 26th and 27th at Plantation's Central Park.

The Relay For Life is a 24-hour event that brought together teams from local businesses, schools, churches, and families for fun, food, music, entertainment, and a night under the stars. While our team members took turns walking or running on the track, the AmOne Fighters held a silent auction of sports memorabilia (generously donated by the Miami Dolphins) and our The Lion King-themed Hakuna Matata Cafe kept participants fed with homemade chocolate chip cookies and other treats.

The Relay For Life began with a Cancer Survivors Lap and a reception to celebrate life. One of the highlights of the event was the Luminaria Ceremony. During the ceremony, people placed luminaria around the track memory or in honor of someone who has been touched by cancer.
AmOne had pledged to raise $2,500 for the American Cancer Society's research, education, advocacy and quality of life programs — we are pleased to have exceeded our goal in raising over $6,600 during the Relay For Life.

For more information on cancer, call the American Cancer Society's 24-hour help line at 1-800-227-2345 or visit cancer.org.

About the American Cancer Society

The American Cancer Society is a global grassroots force of more than three million volunteers saving lives and fighting for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. As the largest voluntary health organization, the Society's efforts have contributed to a 20 percent decline in cancer death rates in the U.S. since 1991, and a 50 percent drop in smoking rates. Thanks to our progress, nearly 14 million Americans who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will celebrate more birthdays this year. As we mark our 100th birthday in 2013, we're determined to finish the fight against cancer. We're finding cures as the nation's largest private, not-for-profit investor in cancer research, ensuring people facing cancer have the help they need and continuing the fight for access to quality health care, lifesaving screenings, clean air, and more. For more information, to get help, or to join the fight, call us anytime, day or night, at 1-800-227-2345 or visit cancer.org.
