Eye Candy Releases Color Reel For 2012/13 Q1 Work

Eye Candy's color reel 2013.

2013-05-05
HOUSTON, TX, May 05, 2013 (Press-News.org) Eye Candy , Houston's premier post and mastering studio for digital cinema, releases their new Color Reel for 2013. Since their last reel in 2009, Eye Candy has been busy improving their tool set and creating films, commercials, industrial films and more. Significant for 2012~13 was the acquisition of the Nucoda Color Grading Suite and DVO VFX. Some of the new features are demonstrated on Eye Candy's newly released color grading samples. Notable (and visible) on this video is the extension of the grading and mastering paradigm commonly associated with composting software such as AfterEffectsTM. The color reel contains loads of compositing examples not typically associated with the color grading and mastering process.

"The line between composting and grading has typically be quite blurry, however with the Nucoda we are empowered to a whole new level of control when mastering".
-William Collins, - Senior Colorist

Eye Candy is an Avid Media Composer editorial facility and offers Digital Vision products for the color grading process (Nucoda). In addition, Eye Candy offers an array of high-end features such as sync-to- picture theatrical testing with in-house 4k Cine Alta projector, DCP encoding and testing, DI services for digital cinema, post audio music composition all under one roof post services for film editorial and visual effects. Eye Candy recently added Digital Vision's ACES [ST 2065-1-2012]). ACES color space allows for directly de-Bayering realtime RAW files such as RED/ARRi/Sony and has a non-destructive half-float workflow. Other mastering improvements for 2013 include acquisition of the DVO Camera suite of effects, a comprehensive suite of VFXs designed to doctor and enhance digital cinema picture that work directly on the RAW file format, allowing maximum image quality with minimal degradation on the VFX process, results typically seen in high end/ large budget hollywood productions.

Eye Candy studio understands the importance of on real-time when it comes to post requirements. When complemented with the Nucoda, the new cameras such as RED Epic, ARRi Alexa or the Sony products, immediate gratification is part of the experience. That means that Digital Intermediate is gone away now for us, the same way the you no longer hear about Desktop Publishing. We can master and give our clients a DCP or go and install it right on the theatre from our mastering suite. Today post begins the day you start shooting. Ask yourself the question, when did post begin for Avatar or The Hobbit? ...and you can see the future.
-William Collins, - Senior Colorist

The Eye Candy staff involved in the creation of this color reel is; senior colorist William Collins, colorist/art director Yun Kum and composer/sound designer Nicholas Gati.
