DALLAS, TX, May 08, 2013 (Press-News.org) Two North Texas-based organizations - Core24 and FITCO - are partnering for one great cause, to raise awareness and operational funds for former U.S. Navy SEAL Team 3 Chief Chris Kyle's not-for-profit organization Heroes Project. The event - Poker for PTSD - will help Heroes Project continue to help combat veterans with their fight over Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and help install home and corporate gyms across the country.
"In February, when Chris was killed, this nation felt his absence through somber dedication; however, his foundation remains alive bearing the torch in which he believed until his last day," said Travis Cox, director of Heroes Project. "With his brother on the Board, and our focus to support these brave men and women still fighting a battle at home with PTSD, both Sunny Nunan of Core24 and I hope Poker for PTSD is a huge success and invite anyone that wants to honor Chris Kyle's legacy to participate in the tournament as a player or spectator."
Business leaders and Chris Kyle admirers alike are invited to join Poker for PTSD on Saturday, May 18 for paid tickets ranging from $75 to $250, which will include tournament buy-in, food, drinks and entertainment. Hors d'oevures and cocktails will begin promptly at 6 p.m. with the cards being dealt at 7:10 p.m. Poker for PTSD will take place at the New Life Hardwood Floors Event Center and Showroom, 915 Slocum St. near Dallas' Design District. Table sponsorships are also available and requested.
The grand prize of the poker tournament benefiting Heroes Project will be a three-day, two-night stay in a Louisiana casino resort via Trinity Private Jet Charter - a $23,000 value. Other prizes will be a PRECOR elliptical machine (a $5,600 value), a his and hers package for a free round of golf at the Dallas National Golf Club, along with a $1,000 gift certificate from Bachendorf's. Also, every entrant to make it to the final table of 10 will receive a free bottle of TX Whiskey, personally signed by distillers Troy Robertson and Leonard Firestone.
"Poker for PTSD is Core24's way of helping contribute to the healing process of our veterans and to say 'Thank you' for the tremendous sacrifices that they have made for us all," said Nunan. "Specifically, we want to honor the memory of Chris Kyle by doing something that will serve other veterans suffering from PTSD. With this event, our goal is to give Heroes Project the financial boost it needs to enable the organization to serve many more veterans through its long-term physical and emotional support programs while raising PTSD awareness."
The Heroes Project is recognized as a 501(c)3 by the Internal Revenue Service, and all donations are tax deductible. For more information about Poker for PTSD, and how to sponsor a table and support Heroes Project, visit http://www.core24.com/pokerforptsd.
