RONCO Puts ISO 22000 on the Menu

ISO 22000 Certification confirms RONCO's status as an approved PPE vendor for food manufacturing, processing and service

2013-05-09
CONCORD, ON, CANADA, May 09, 2013 (Press-News.org) As the food safety landscape continues to be bombarded with advisories, warnings and recalls, supply chain partners are coming under pressure to prove they are not a weak link. RONCO's ISO 22000 certification for Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS), confirms the Company's status as an approved PPE vendor for food manufacturing, processing and service customers.

RONCO is the first glove manufacturer in North America to obtain this food safety qualification, which certifies that their manufacturing, storage and delivery processes meet, or exceed, the global standards required for food safety. Food and beverage customers seeking to reduce the risk of contamination in their processes can consider RONCO a value-added partner.

ISO 22000 was created as as an international standard to provide harrmonized requirements for the delivery of safe food to the public. In short, the certification is applicable to every link in the supply chain and all stages of a product lifecycle where a foodborne illness or other food safety hazard can occur.
ISO 22000 also applies to secondary supply chain members such as equipment producers, packagers, manufacturers of cleaning agents, food additives and ingredients. Safety manufacturers are included in the list, as PPE is an integral component of any Food Safety Management System.

RONCO President, Ron Pecchioli, reflected on past sales into the food industry, "For years, our goal as safety specialists was to deliver PPE that fit into HACCP compliant programs or to obtain CFIA approval on products that came in direct contact with food. We were even training some companies that did not use gloves or safety apparel at all. But that dynamic has changed. In addition to HACCP and CFIA compliance, everyone in the industry is expected to adhere to more rigorous, global food safety guidelines in the quest for zero contamination."

"Achieving ISO 22000 certification has helped us raise the bar on our competition," continued Mr. Pecchioli. "It promotes RONCO as a valuable, trusted link in the supply chain. Food processors know that our products are manufactured and handled under stringent conditions and are suitable for use in their food safety management systems."

Achieving ISO 22000 Certification represents a commitment to excellence in food safety and is an investment that a food chain supply partner makes in its employees, processes and systems. Certified suppliers can confidently conform to statutory and regulatory requirements anywhere in the world. And bottom line, it is a platform for generating greater consumer confidence in the safety of their food system - something you can't put a pricetag on.
