NASHVILLE, TN, May 10, 2013 (Press-News.org) In the 1930s and '40s prior to founding the Scientology religion, author and humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard wrote for magazines of the day. One of his stories will be performed theatrically at the Nashville Church of Scientology on May 25th.
One of Hubbard's popular Science Fiction stories was "Tough Old Man" which will be brought to life by performers in a free theatrical reading hosted by the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre in Nashville, Tennessee.
"Tough Old Man" is an adventurous and clever story about a man named Moffat who is sent for final training under the Senior Constable of the Frontier Patrol, old Keno. All the others sent to train under old Keno have returned to turn in their badges because they couldn't keep up with the old man. Moffat is determined. He powers through the severities of the planet's climates of extreme cold, extreme heat and rocky landscape. But what it takes to be Senior Constable is a surprise to Moffat.
The fictional stories written by Hubbard are produced by Galaxy Press in both book and audiobook format. The audiobooks have been produced with multi-cast performances, sound effects and incidental music that not only assists in telling the story, but also give the feel of the times the stories were written. According to a review by Gil T. Wilson on sfsite.com, "The characterizations from the performers' voices create an ambiance that boosts you into a jet pack and thrusts you into the heyday of sci-fi storytelling."
Actors who read the stories for the audiobooks will perform the story live at the theatrical presentation.
"Tough Old Man" will be performed in the community room at the Church of Scientology in Nashville at 1130 8th Avenue South on Saturday May 25th at 2:00pm. The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. To RSVP call Julie Brinker at (615) 687-4600.
