NORCROSS, GA, May 14, 2013 (Press-News.org) Healthcare linen provider Angelica Corporation is proud to announce its dedication to the environment through its green initiative. Their environmentally friendly practices have not only drastically reduced their facilities' water consumption, they have also diverted tons of recyclable material from the landfill.
Hospital laundry service Angelica Corporation's green initiative is a company-wide exercise in corporate responsibility. Their "Go Green" campaign has examined each facet of their operations to discover ways in which they can reduce their dependence on natural resources, reduce their carbon footprint, and increase reusability and recycling.
A few of the steps medical laundry service Angelica has taken are:
- Purchasing equipment which reduces their dependence on natural gas and water as well as reduces their carbon footprint.
- Reducing water usage by 28% on a per-pound basis. This resulted in a reduction of 600,000 gallons of water per week from one medical linen service processing facility alone.
- Reducing natural gas usage per pound by 16%
- Reducing their truck fleet through GPS systems.
- Switching to 100% environmentally friendly chemicals.
- Recycling all possible recyclables, including disposable soiled linens bags.
- Voluntarily working towards achieving Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council accreditation by the end of 2012.
Going green is great for both the environment and clients. Angelica is able to save money by not using as many resources, and they are able to pass those savings to their clients, making for a happy planet and happy clients.
"We are very pleased with the results of our green initiative," says Aly Merritt, Marketing Manager of Angelica Corporation. "By saving resources, we are being both environmentally and economically responsible."
