WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA, October 31, 2010 (Press-News.org) "Touro University Worldwide (TUW) joined the entertainment industry during Digital Hollywood announcing its MA degree program in Media and Communications Psychology and a new fully online M.B.A. program," said Dr. Bernard Luskin, CEO and Sr. Provost of TUW.
This year's Digital Hollywood theme was melding technology, information and entertainment. "Education is the bridge that brings them together," said Neil Stiles, President of Variety Magazine and sponsor of Digital Hollywood. Joining the Touro MA degree program through Digital Hollywood are several entertainment executives, including attendees Martin Perlmutter and Jesse Cabanas.
"Earning graduate degrees online is now common," said TUW professor and entertainment industry lawyer, Paul Wright. "Taking courses online is a way of allowing busy professionals and working adults to obtain a graduate degree while they continue with their current responsibilities. This is an exciting time in entertainment, education and technology because they have converged and are now changing the way we learn and communicate forever. We recognize this growth at Digital Hollywood and are responding," said Victor Harwood, President of Digital Hollywood.
"Touro University Worldwide's CEO Luskin is the former President of Philips Interactive Media and has been involved with media and higher education for many years, winning two Emmy's for documentary telecourse production. Luskin was also founding Chancellor of Jones International University; the first accredited fully online university, President of Coastline and Orange Coast Colleges and President of Mind Extension University and Knowledge TV. "We intend to provide a major opportunity for working professionals in the entertainment industry to earn advanced degrees online, taught by scholar practitioners, and flexible in ways that accommodate their lifestyles, schedules and responsibilities," declared Luskin.
"Coming to Digital Hollywood this year has been a great way for us to meet many of our students in person," says Touro's Chief Marketing Officer, Alisa Weinstein. "With over 4 million adults engaged in fully online learning courses, the e-learning educational trend is revolutionizing how people learn and it just so happens that many of our students are entertainment executives, interested and able to be a part of this educational tsunami. We're excited about our programs and we have counselors available to answer any questions and walk you through the enrollment process with no hassles," she said.
Variety's Neil Stiles agreed and made it a point to emphasize how important education is and how utilizing online learning has benefitted Variety's employees. "We have sent our top executives to take online business courses. I believe Education provides the guarantee that the content used in news, entertainment and books reflects the quality and critical thinking necessary to make continuous progress," he said.
Those interested in enrolling in the M.B.A., Industrial and Organizational Psychology or Media and Communications Psychology Programs should contact Alisa Weinstein, CMO and Director of Enrollment Management, Alisa.Weinstein@TouroW.edu , or Laurie Jacobs, Director of Student Services, Lauri.Jacobs@TouroW.edu at 818 575 6800.
