Anthony Scott Mize Weighs in on Branson's Questions for Tech Startups

Although technology startups may have a lot of potential, Virgin's Richard Branson recently explained his thoughts on what it takes to begin these ventures. Tech entrepreneur Anthony Scott Mize comments on some of Branson's points.

2013-05-22
PHILADELPHIA, PA, May 22, 2013 (Press-News.org) Anthony Scott Mize is a tech professional well-versed in the many fields that make up today's high technology market. He has worked with startup ventures and projects from nanotechnology to Internet enterprises, Mize notes that while the tech field offers many possibilities, it is still a hard industry to break into. As such, Anthony Scott Mize points to a recent article from Entrepreneur in which tech mogul Richard Branson of Virgin explains his position on what it takes to prove a valuable resource in the modern technology industry.

According to Mize, one of the most important points that Branson highlights in the article is the need to reduce the business concept down to how it serves the public or businesses. In the article, Branson asks, "Does your company offer a smart, simple solution that improves customers' lives?" For example, Branson discusses how he got involved with Square--a tech company that provides resources for processing credit card transactions via Smartphone.

Anthony Scott Mize responds, "Branson is spot on with the need to translate a business venture into consumer impact. Square takes complicated technology and creates new possibilities for entrepreneurs. It is important for tech startups to remove themselves from the challenging aspects of their product and assess how it will impact the public as a whole. Without this viewpoint, there really is no vision--no matter how revolutionary the technology."

Mize also highlights the following question posed by Branson in Entrepreneur: Does your company care enough about people and the planet to use business as a force for good? According to Anthony Scott Mize, tech startups must not only focus on their products or services as solutions for improving costs or the user experiences, but also as enhancements to the way people live their lives. Mize has firsthand experience working with beneficial tech startups, having provided guidance to Natural Logic--an environmental performance consulting firm.

However, while many tech startups may be focused on environmental causes, Anthony Scott Mize notes that these actions are not the only way new businesses can help. For instance, in the article, Branson explains, "New businesses can tackle local problems, growing businesses can tackle national problems, big businesses can tackle global problems." For Mize, technology can create a world of contribution--not just convenience.

As both a business development and technology-oriented professional, Anthony Scott Mize remains dedicated to progressing not only corporate solutions, but also improving the world and the way people live their day-to-day lives.
