From Court Rooms to the Campaign Trail: Are These Places that Women Don't Belong?

Profiling author and Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, looking at women in politics and profiling women who have been the first in their industry.

2013-05-25
TORONTO, ON, May 25, 2013 (Press-News.org) Exclusive to Women Who Run It: Your Life - Your Love - Your Terms!, the e-magazine for strong, empowered, driven women we're exploring some male dominated spheres of business that women have been struggling to break into. It's commonly thought that women don't belong in judges robes or at the podium of a political rally but we object! We'll tell you about a woman who has beat these stereotypes, show you other women who have been the first to break into their careers and tell you how you can too!

This is all part of our Ultimate Sweepstakes from Women Who Run It. Our first giveaway includes an Amazon Kindle Paperwhite filled with six books by inspiring authors. These authors each hold a different secret on how we can become women who do it all.

YOU CAN ENTER HERE AT http://WomenWhoRunIt.com/Ultimate

This issue will be profiling the first Hispanic and third woman ever to be appointed to the United States Supreme Court, Sonia Sotomayor. Her book My Beloved World is an inspiring tale of overcoming an alcoholic father and neglectful mother to become an American Icon. Sotomayor shares her struggle with her diagnosis of diabetes as a child, her failed marriage and rise to success in the law system. Sotomayor's candid autobiography shows that it's not an endless bank account that leads to success, but rather hard work, perseverance and a little ego.
Next we will spotlight other female firsts. From the first woman to become a lawyer to the first woman to run for Vice President (do we remember a little lady by the name of Palin?) we're appreciating those ladies who have paved the way.

Finally, we'll be looking at women in politics. We found that the stats are not in our favour and these numbers may just blow you away! Why are women so underrepresented in politics? We'll tell you why and how to fix it.

This article is the second issue of our four part series. Watch for the issues on Mondays and enter to win the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite filled with six books before June 15th!
