PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC, August 25, 2010 (Press-News.org) Prague hotels are set to experience a major surge in demand from ice hockey fans later this year.
As part of the NHL's international expansion programme, the Czech capital is due to host two competitive matches featuring top American sides in October.
Taking place at the O2 Arena on October 9th and 10th, the event will see the Boston Bruins take on the Phoenix Coyotes in a two-match opener to the new season.
This year, a total of six teams are taking part in NHL Premiere fixtures at European venues, with other matches being held in Helsinki and Stockholm.
"With these games, nearly half of our clubs will have participated in Premiere - a testament to how excited our teams are to be playing before our outstanding fans in Europe," said NHL commissioner Gary Bettman earlier this year.
Both of the teams heading to Prague have several Czech players on their rosters, with Petr Prucha and Radim Vrbata likely to represent the Coyotes and Vladimir Sobotka in contention for Boston.
The city has hosted NHL action before, with the New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning opening the 2008-09 season there.
Tickets for this year's NHL Premiere in Prague are priced between 490 and 7,990 Czech koruna (GBP16.20 and GBP265).
For more information on this event, visit the O2 Arena website.
