BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND, June 05, 2013 (Press-News.org) In today's highly competitive marketplace it seems that many companies are faceless and only communicate from behind the scene. New research reveals that 97% of people would think more positively about a company if it contributes to their community. Ben Lambert, managing director of Strategic Five Marketing, explains: "More and more businesses understand the importance of contributing to local communities and use this as an opportunity to promote their brand." For the survey which was exclusively shown to Marketing Week, local community organisation Your Square Mile asked 1,000 participants across the UK aged between 18 and 85. The study also shows that only 1% of people feel contribution from businesses is excellent at present and over 7% evaluate work in their community as very good. The majority of people however, 55% say that CSR of businesses is only average. "These figures should encourage businesses to get more involved with their local community and look at the benefits of CSR", adds Ben Lambert.

Founder and chief executive of Your Square Mile, Paul Twivy, says: "CSR as it stands today is not enough anymore; it's not just about donating money. That is obviously important, but businesses also need to commit resources such as time, skills, venues and land to the communities where they are based." Nowadays, people expect businesses to take CSR and use their influence to support others. The research reveals that 60% of the people questioned want companies to contribute more to community life. A further 35% believe that businesses should 'probably' be more involved. Strategic Five Marketing's managing director Ben Lambert suggests that volunteering and engaging with people outside the business is a fantastic marketing tool. "There are many options to support communities through CSR: you can choose to donate money, be involved in charity or encourage a recycling mentality , just to name a few," says Ben Lambert. No matter what a company decides to do, the benefits of CSR are often underestimated.
Strategic Five Marketing, an outsourced sales and marketing company in Birmingham, actively promote CSR and have recently re-looked at their CSR policy. "Purchasing from a company supporting local community projects often makes customers feel that they are actually contributing to do something good," says Ben Lambert. He also explains that supporting CSR increases communication and trust between a company and its customers which automatically leads to increased recommendations, sales and business growth. Even though CSR may not be the number one priority on a company's to-do list, it makes organisations however more approachable and closer to the consumer who in the end is the one to decide from which company to buy from.
Strategic Five Marketing is a leading outsourced sales and marketing firm located in Birmingham who offer in-house presentations and interactions with clients that will help them increase customer loyalty within their brand.
