LAKEVILLE, MN, June 05, 2013 (Press-News.org) Verified Credentials, Inc., the leader in background screening since 1984, today announced its self-certification with Concerned CRAs, a group of concerned consumer reporting agencies (CRAs) organized around voluntary guidelines for "no-offshore" screening practices and responsible use of criminal records databases.
Concerned CRAs believes that individual's personally identifiable information, including social security numbers and financial data, should never be sent offshore for processing. The 'No Off-Shoring' seal displayed on Verified Credentials' website informs consumers that personally identifiable information will be exclusively processed and stored within the United States.
As part of the industry collective, Verified Credentials has also voluntarily pledged to verify results from a national criminal database with the reporting jurisdiction prior to providing a consumer report to an organization. Confirming potential records from a database search has already been a long-standing best practice for the experienced background screening company. Additionally, Concerned CRAs aims to create more awareness about the limitations of "national" criminal searches and the importance of researching each applicant's criminal history in the jurisdictions where current and former residences and employers are located.
"Like our peers in Concerned CRAs, we want to assure consumers that their information is protected and that only verified criminal records are reported," said Chad Ross, President at Verified Credentials, Inc. "By displaying a 'Concerned CRAs' seal, we are reminding consumers that their information is entrusted to a company that promises to keep consumer information secure and accurate. We are proud to stand behind the group's guidelines to further demonstrate our dedication to consumer protection and its importance in our industry."
