Ottimmo Student Earns Perfect SAT Score

North Texas student Kavi Shah earns a 2400 on the SAT after attending test prep courses at Ottimmo.

LEWISVILLE, TX, June 08, 2013

With a bright mind and drive to spare, Kavi Shah is a member of an elite group of young people- students who have earned a perfect score on the SAT.

According to a report by College Board, the nonprofit organization that administers the SAT, only 360 students, 0.022 percent, who took the SAT worldwide in 2012 earned a perfect score of 2400. Statistics reflecting 2013 exam scores have not yet been released.

Shah, a junior at Coppell High School in Coppell, Texas, scored a 2400 on the college entrance exam he took May 1. The honor student said he was relieved when he saw his score online.

"First I felt relief. I've been working on the SAT for a long time," said Shah. "Relief then happiness."

Shah prepared for the test by taking an SAT prep course at Ottimmo, an academic tutoring center in Lewisville, Texas, where he received individualized instruction on each section of the exam. Ottimmo instructors taught him strategies to apply to the math, reading and writing portions of the test, which helped him achieve a perfect score of 800 on each. In addition to individual coaching and practice exams at Ottimmo, Shah studied on his own and took several additional practice tests.

"The more you practice, the better prepared you are and the better you are at taking the test," he said.

Shah attributes his perfect score to hard work and motivation. He has one piece of advice for other students preparing to take college entrance exams like the SAT, "it's all about balance," he said. "Work on the SATs, make good grades in school and have some fun too."

With his senior year of high school ahead of him, Shah said he will be working on college applications this summer. While he is unsure of which university he will attend, Shah plans on majoring in economics when he reaches college.
