San Diego Blood Bank move by Ace Relocation Systems, Inc. has begun

The premier relocation company has completed the transfer of bloodmobiles from Aero Drive to the new Gateway Center facility; headquarters move will be staged over several months

2010-11-03
SAN DIEGO, CA, November 03, 2010 (Press-News.org) Ace Relocation Systems, Inc., a comprehensive relocation solutions company with offices throughout the U.S., is providing its services to the San Diego Blood Bank (SDBB) in the transfer of its 13 bloodmobiles from its previous Aero Drive location to a new, state-of-the-art building on Gateway Center Ave.

"The bloodmobiles operate seven days-a-week, which requires them to be refreshed with supplies daily," said Peter Heldreth, Ace's Project Manager for the SDBB project. "This presented a unique challenge, as we had a limited window of time to relocate these vehicles without any disruption to the bloodmobiles' schedule."

Ace is now working in stages over several months on the relocation of the Blood Bank's main headquarters on Upas Street to the new Gateway Center. This site will be the SDBB's corporate headquarters, consisting of a donor center, laboratories, a blood storage and distribution area, and much more.

The Blood Bank urgently needed a state-of-the-art headquarters to more efficiently manage growing demands and be prepared for the future of life-sustaining blood and tissue donations from and for the San Diego community.

Over the years, the Blood Bank has experienced very rapid growth due to increased need for blood for a variety of lifesaving medical procedures.

When the current headquarters opened in 1972, the Blood Bank had only one bloodmobile and collected less than 50,000 pints of blood per year.  Today, the blood bank has 13 bloodmobiles and annually collects more than 150,000 donations.

"The SDBB is a nonprofit organization with a limited budget for the build-out and furnishing of its new facility," said Heldreth. "Ace is looking to its clients and partners for assistance with the donation of suitable furniture, and other services needed for the build-out."

As a full-service Atlas Van Lines mover, Ace Relocation continues to provide comprehensive relocation and storage services to all of Southern California, taking on various types and sizes of clients in both the residential and corporate sectors.
